Card Making Made Easy Workshop Day 2

Welcome to the second day of the Card Making Made Easy Workshop!

First of all, if you haven’t watch video from Day 1, please stop and go to that first video. Click here or on the picture below to go watch video #1

Card Making Made Easy WorkshopOn this video we discussed how to look for inspiration for your card ideas and how to use it.

I hope you’ve done the homework from this first video. Because the more you do this exercise the easier it will be for you to find your uniqueness in card making.

And finding your Uniqueness will help you come up with your own card ideas in an easier way.

So don’t dismiss this important step. I know it sounds so easy, but this is how I discovered what I my own style.

And if you think about it, knowing what your style is, will definitely help you to come up with cards in an easy way. Why, you might ask? Well because then your will know where to start..

Believe me.. When I started to pay attention to what I was loving from the cards I used as inspiration, I realized that the layout was my thing.. But that might not be your thing…

We all are different crafters, you might love colors, or fancy techniques, or elaborated cards, or vintage cars, or clean and simple.. And once you define your style, then you can see where to start.

For me, as I mentioned, it is the layout. So guess what I look for when I start making cards? Layouts or Sketches!… you guessed it right!

Video # 2

So in this second video from the Card Making Made Easy Workshop, we will explore how we use the inspiration we like to incorporate it into our cards.  You will see in my case how I can get many card ideas going from layouts.

Make sure you download the resources from this video below.

I hope you enjoyed this second video. Hopefully by now you realize how using the things you liked from the inspiration can help you in designing your own cards. This process will help you find your Uniqueness, which will help you to come up with cards even easier.

Tomorrow we will see how to use one piece of inspiration to come up with as many card ideas as we can.. You will see how once you have found your own style you can use one piece of inspiration to make so many cards with ease and confidence..

I know you will enjoy it..

Let me know below, what did you like the most so far from this process, or what is the next step you want to take or implement to make your own cards? I would love to know..  Please share below in the comments!

Also if you have any questions you can email me at allie@creatingwithallie.com or comment below. I will be reading and replying below to all the comments and questions. 😃

  1. Wonderful video love how you showed the sketch that helped create all the cards and then showed the cards that you made and the slight changes as you went! thank you

  2. Thank you so much for the sketches and the inspiration. I sometimes take cards I have cut and not used along with embellishments I have cut and not used, placed them on the cards and let them sit for a while then go back and either discard, change something, or put together and complete. I never throw away anything that I don’t use at the time I make it.

  3. Being a student of your Cardmaking 101 class I can honestly say that I am making so much more cards than I have ever done before. I am using what I have in my stash and able to make cards and card sets of my own designs. My friends and family have really noticed the difference and I get so many compliments. Thank you Allie, I’ve learned so much from your classes and always use the sketches now. It makes it so much easier just like you said

  4. Oh my gosh, thank you so much for showcasing how to use a sketch and work from that one sketch in so many ways.
You are helping me think outside of the box when making my cards. Normally if I see a sketch with an oval or whatever, then I always seem to use the same oval instead of substituting something else.
    Can’t wait until tomorrow.

  5. I love the different layouts you demonstrated. I tend to like fun folds and different techniques. The main problem I have is I pick a card idea from Pinterest, but can’t seem to pick nice color combinations that make the card pop. What’s the best way to pick colors that work well together? I can sit there for an hour trying to pick the dsp and cardstock I want to use!

    • i try to use the colors i see in the paper i want to use.. so i know this sounds easy but trust me that is what i do.. i look at the papers in the patterned paper and then i pulled the cardstock in the same colors and place them together to see what i like.. you will see some of this tomorrow on the next video! but we can talk more about it in the live portion of the workshop if you still have questions. 🙂

  7. Thank you so much for sharing all your knowledge with us. Sketches have never drawn my attention, but after watching this video I have decided I want to give that a shot. I’m excited to see what I can come up with using a sketch or two!

  8. I love your video’s. They are fun and adorable cards. You know I’ve been stamping for quite some time Everything you said in the 1st video was me to the T! I’m still that way! After you suggested for us to go look as to what we really liked about the card, it really changed as to what I immediately see now. Kind of funny. After I make one card from a video, that is when I begin to change things up a bit. Looking forward in seeing the next one. Do you find your paper first or stamp set? That is one area that takes me forever! t figure out. Another thing that I’ve noticed after watching your video over is that I get so overwhelmed by the art and want to try every card set! My daughter calls me the paper junkie!
