Father’s Day Card with Shark Frenzy Bundle

blog hop banner

Are you needing a Father’s Day Card for this year?  Cause I know that was me!!! And today I am sharing the card that my hubby will get this year!

When I saw that the theme for this blog hop was going to be Splish & Splash and all things water, I knew I wanted to use the Shark Frenzy bundle. Mainly because I have two little kids who sing the Shark song ALL DAY LONG!

When kids likes songs, they really do!! LOL

Here is my family…. My hubby is holding Addy and Oli is just being Oli! I love his personality, he is so fun and happy!  My Addy is also very silly and laughs at everything and anything, however when it is time for pictures, you can’t have a smile from her!

Funny story, is that right after taking the picture this day, she was just all laughs!! But we are not surprised, as she has been that way all her life..  So serious when she doesn’t know people and then super silly when it is just us.. I think she is like me in that sense and is just introvert.. Where my Oli is more outgoing and extrovert.

I love to see how different they are!

Father’s Day Card

As I was mentioning above I wanted to use the shark frenzy bundle from Stampin’ Up! for my Father’s Day Card! So here is my card!

Learn how to make a cute Father's Day Card using the Shark Frenzy Bundle from Stampin' Up! This card is great if you have little kids!

I love how it turned out and it truly was super easy! I only used the bundle as the die set really has great accessories to embellish your card. But I will go into more details later on.

Color Combination

As far as color combo, I decided to focus on the Sea and thought the below color combination would go well with my card.  Therefore I picked shades of blues for the sea, as well as Sahara sand for the bottom of the sea.

So this time I was inspired more in the concept than in the paper on hand.  Then I just picked paper in the colors I wanted to use an go from there.

The designer series paper (DSP) I am using here is actually retired, but we still have DSP in this color, just different patterns that the one I am sharing! I know it would also look really great..

Shark Frenzy Bundle

As mentioned above, for this card I wanted to feature the Shark Frenzy Bundle, and while my card is for a Father’s Day, you can really use this set for lots of others occasions.

Look at the images below, you will see that the stamp set and die set give you lots of alternatives.  Stampin’ Up! shared these projects in the catalog and as you can see from the pictures you can customize the sharks to your liking.

You can make cards for grandparents or kids or moms or babies! Seriously you can do all the different characters from the song  by adding mustaches, eye lashes, glasses, ties & bow ties, hair bows, hats, purses, necklaces, etc. You name it, the options are limitless!

Not to mention you can color the sharks in different colors as well to add to the personality!

So make sure you grab this awesome bundle (item: 156213) as is soon retiring! 😉

Card Details

Learn how to make a cute Father's Day Card using the Shark Frenzy Bundle from Stampin' Up! This card is great if you have little kids!

As far as my card, I decided to just add a bow tie that would look fancy for my Dad Shark.

I decided to color the shark in Balmy blue, but I stamped twice, so I could get a more rich color rather than a pastel color. I felt this added a more realistic look for shark!

Btw, I added a highlight line on white areas using the Pool Party light blend. This little detail always makes your pieces look more finished, specially when images are white.

For the Bow, I colored it with stampin blends (Poppy Parade) and then add wink of stella to make it shine! I love the shimmery look this easy step adds and it is not messy like glitter.

Learn how to make a cute Father's Day Card using the Shark Frenzy Bundle from Stampin' Up! This card is great if you have little kids!Since I pictured my shart in the bottom of the sea, I created two layers of sand with the dies to give dimension to the card. I inked the edges of these pieces using the daubers and sahara sand ink.

I stamped the sentiment in the top layer so that when I stamped the Dady shark it would follow the song lirics.

By the way, the Daddy Shark words were stamped on scraps of basic white paper and then cut out with scissors following the words. I think this looked really good to position the words in the background as if these were floating.

Because I created two layers of sand, I glued the back layer with seal and the top layer with the foam strips to add dimension to the card, (you can see that in the picture on the right). Then added the leaves on the back layer using the fine tip glue pen and glue dots.

The shark was glued with dimensionals in between the sand layers.

Finishing details

To finish off my card I added an insert for the inside of my card. I usually don’t do this all the time, however because this is a special card, I went for it!

I added two little sharks one in Pacific Point and one in Flirty Flamingo.. since this is the Father’s Day card from my kiddos I wanted one boy and one girl shark to represent my Oli & Addy in the card.  Below the picture.

And then I added a strip of DSP to the bottom to coordinate with the outside of this card.  I definitely love how this card turned out!

I hope you have enjoyed this project and give it a try at the Shark Frenzy Bundle!

This is a great bundle and it is sad to see it retire at the end of this month.. so grab it while it is still available! (item: 156213). How to make Cheerful Birthday Cards

Hey friend, Today I am sharing with you an easy way to make cheerful birthday cards using the Zany Zebras. This set is soon becoming a favorite of mine as these little zebras are easy to color and have so much personality!  So let’s get started, shall we!!

How to make Cheerful Birthday Cards

One of the things that help me when making cards is thinking about the feeling I want them to have. In this case I wanted to have Cheerful Birthday Cards and with that in mind I thought of bright colors.

Once I have the emotion defined then it is easy to look for paper that inspire me that sentiment.

When looking for the patterned paper, the stripe pattern from the Flowers for all seasons DSP called my attention immediately, as it is bright, and cheerful.

Cheerful Birthday cards to make

The Color Combination

As usual, I picked the color combination for my cards from the designer series paper. I love doing this as a lot of the times I can get new color combinations that I would not have come up otherwise!

Honestly I would have never picked these colors on my own, however when I saw the patterned paper, I knew this was the color combo I wanted to try!

Most of the times I don’t think of red and pinks together, but it worked really well. I loved that all the colors are so bright and they shout happy at me! Don’t you think?

Card Details and Sketches

Once I have figure out the paper, the set and the color combination, I then proceed to find sketches for the cards.. I love doing this, as I can get super fun looks on my cards. Sketches are truly what sparks my imagination and creativity every single time! believe me!!

Below you will see the sketches I used with the corresponding card, so that you get an idea of what you can do when using sketches!

Handmade Card #1

Sketches to play     Cheerful Birthday cards to make

One thing that I did on all these cards was fussy cutting the zebras as well as their party hat, that way I could use them in all the cards as if they were embellishments.

Additionally for the sentiments I actually die cut the banner shape with the tasteful labels, that way I had matching stitched marks in the circle and the sentiment. I honestly think that this added a little of flair to this card.

And finally, I added ribbon and the enamel dots, which are my most favorite embellishments to add to cards. I think that just adding a bow and gems to any card will make it look amazing.

Do you have embellishments that you tend to use a lot when making cards? if so are what are your favorite embellishments? which are the ones that need to be in every card you make? Let me know in the comments below..

Handmade Card #2

Sketches to play     Cheerful Birthday cards to make

For this card, I used two sizes of circles, but you could use the same size if you want to. Just play with it and see what you like best.

Additionally, I added another pattern to the circles as you can see from the picture. If you don’t have another coordinating pattern you could always use cardstock and add texture or stamps on it, to add some interest..

Handmade Card #4

Sketches to play     Cheerful Birthday cards to make

For my third card, I just loved this sketch!! I think this one is a really cute and easy one to do and some how it calls my attention a lot more.. maybe it is the ribbon around the top layer.. I don’t know, but by far this was my favorite.

By the way if you are interested to see how to make all the cards, I have you covered my friend! I have a full video tutorial for you to see step by step how to make these cheerful birthday cards!

Cheerful Birthday cards to make  And by the way, I wanted to share with you what you can do to the inside of your cards. I did this for all my cards.

I just stamped a zebra into a piece of whisper white, I colored it and then add it to the card.

One thing to share here is that more and more I make these little inserts which are 3″ x 4 1/4″. I really love this size as it is large enough to not feel overwhelm when addressing the cards.

I have implemented these smaller inserts on my cards, as I felt in the past that having a full size ( 4″ x 5 1/4″) would make me feel like I have to write too much and sometimes I don’t have too much to say.. Once I change this size it became easier for me to send cards.

If you struggle with the same, then give it a try! I specially love this for Christmas cards for instance where I send a gazillion of cards and I know I will not be sending long written letters.

The Video Tutorial

And as promised here is the video tutorial where you can learn how to make these cheerful birthday cards cards step by step. I go over all the supplies, as well as all the measurements.

Cute Handmade Birthday Card for a Friend

Color Combo Blog Hop banner

Want to learn how to make a cute handmade Birthday card for a friend? then keep reading my friend as today I am sharing with you a super cute Handmade Birthday card that you can customize with tons of little critters like the one I used in mine.

And as you can see I am participating in the monthly colour combo blog hop to challenge myself how to use their color combination into a handmade card!

So Let’s get started!!

How to make a cute Handmade Birthday Card for a Friend

So as I mentioned above, today I am participating into this blog hop to challenge myself to use the color combination of the month which you can see below

And honestly this is how I started brainstorming how to make my card or what to use for this Birthday handmade card, which I am not going to lie, sometimes I found this a bit more challenging than starting with the products in mind..

You see, I almost always try to pick the products and then from those products I pick the colors.. So you can see that going the opposite way can be challenging for my mind LOL. However I love it, because it forces me to look at things differently and I feel like I actually stretch my mind and my creativity.. And at the end of the day this always helps you to grow new skills!

So always try something different that challenges you, as this always helps you grow in other ways.. and I mean this not only for your card making but for everything in life! 😉

Anyway, back to my card.. I first thought about using flowers (I think I always want to go that route!). However, I remembered I got this cute new set from the August-December catalog (a.k.a. Winter or Holiday Catalog) that can make cute little critters. And this is when the light bulb went on! Why not using the soft suede for a little critter and use the other colors as highlights. Why not?

After I had picked up the little critter, I looked for paper and embellishments in the other colors from this color combo. I realized I had a spool of ribbon in Mint Macaroon. This got me thinking about using this color as the highlight and the Rich Razzleberry as the color for my card base.

So here is the card!! tah-dah!! what do you think???

The Sketch & Other Details

sketches to play

Once I knew which products I was going to use for this card, I then looked for a sketch.

If you have been following me for a while, you know how much I love using a sketch. I strongly believe that this makes things so easy when you are coming up with ideas for your cards.

One think I always suggest is to start with an easy and simple sketch, that way you don’t get overwhelmed by thinking how to substitute the elements on the sketch.

As far as the card itself, I made the little beaver using the Menagerie Mix-up stamp set, and if you look in to the details you will see that his cheeks are colored as well as his scarf.

Close up on this cute little critter

I used Flirty Flamingo – dark shade from the Stampin’ Blends  to color his cheek. And the Dark shade of the Mint Macaroon to color his scarf.  I think this added a little bit more of personality to the beaver. Don’t you think?

One tip to assemble the beaver was to stamp, color and cut out all the pieces using the dies, and then glue all the pieces using the Glue Dots.

When you are ready to add the beaver to the card, you can use dimensionals to add more dimension to it!!

The best think of the Menagerie Mix up bundle is that you can create so many critters that you can customize the card to many options.

And I am also thinking that these little critters can go perfect for like Baby Shower cards, or kids cards! so the possibilities are endless for sure!!

If you are enjoying colors combination challenges and want another color combo to play, you can see the Color Combination from July 2020 here as well as the card that I made using it!

The Blog Hop

As mentioned above, I am participating on a blog hop where all participants will be sharing their projects using these colors!! I am really curious to see all their great creations!! As I know they always come up with so many ideas that keeps me inspired.

A Birthday card for a kid and some tips with your stamparatus!

Blog Hop Banner

Do you like making Birthday handmade cards for your kids? If you do, I know you will love this post, as I am sharing with you how to make a Birthday handmade card using the Birthday  Bonanza suite from Stampin’ Up!

I am also showing some tips to stamp multi-step images using a stamp positioning, in this case, the Stamparatus from Stampin’ Up!

But before we dive into the Birthday card, let me tell you that this post is part of a Blog Hop with an amazing group of fellow demonstrators around the world. I am sure you will enjoy hoping around with us while getting tons of inspiration!!!

How to make a Birthday Handmade card

As I mentioned before, I am using the Birthday Bonanza suite from Stampin’ Up!, which is a great suite full of bright colors and cute critters that will make any birthday card look adorable!  You can see below the picture of this suite! is this not the cutest suite?

Birthday Bonanza suite

Don’t get confused with the name of this suite as these little critters can be used for any occasion card! You can see this Valentine’s card using that lovely koala here.

The Birthday Bonanza suite has a great stamp set called Bonanza Buddies that include the cute little critters you see in the picture above! This stamp set coordinates with a die set, that can help you die cut not only images from the stamp set, but also images from the designer series paper!

I definitely love a die set that coordinates with the patterned paper of the suite, as this always makes it easy to make cards! not to mention that it also makes it quick! So you get a great card without consuming too much time. If you are like me, always running and busy with too many things in life, but still enjoy crafting, then you will love this suite!

Below you can see the birthday handmade card that I made with this suite!  The toucan was stamped using the Stamparatus! which is a stamp positioning tool that makes your life easy when it comes to lining up images perfectly. I am linking a quick video showing you exactly how to stamp the toucan.

learn how to make Birthday Handmade card using the Birthday Bonanza suite from Stampin' Up!

Use the Stamparatus to stamp multi-step images

As I was telling you before the Stamparatus is the perfect stamp positioning tool to help you stamp multi-step images.

You might not know what are multi-step stamps, and if that is the case let me explain more about this.

Multi-step stamps are set of images that complement each other. For instance, the focal point in my card consists of three images: the toucan, the hat and the pom-pom.

Did you notice in the Birthday card that the hat is covering part of the toucan’s head? this is making it look as if the toucan was wearing a party hat!  You can make this effect by using a technique called masking.

So if you are interested in learning both the lining of images using your stamp positioning, and the technique masking, then make sure to watch the video below!

Step-by-Step video tutorial to make a Birthday handmade card

After stamping the Toucan, then its time to put together the card. In the next video I show you how to make the Birthday handmade card step-by-step. I even throw a tip on saving cardstock by  die cutting some elements from the the cardstock that will be covered with patterned paper. Intrigued?  😉 Then  watch the video tutorial below!

All the pictures in the supply list will take you to my online store where you can purchase any of these items! When you purchase from my store, you support my stamping business and it helps me keep creating more cards to share with you! I truly appreciate your support! 🥰🥰🥰

How to make cards for your kids

Hi there! It has been a long time since I posted here on the blog, though I have kept sharing weekly content on my facebook page Creating with Allie. The reason for this was that I was making some changes and upgrades to my blog.. It now moved to a different platform which hopefully will make things a lot better for you..

I gotta confess, the blog was finalized mid July, but as usual, life was just hectic with two little ones, a brand new work, and all things around the house, that kept me from really learning the new platform.. ha!, you see, in my head the change was going to be super quick and all was going to be super easy.. however as with everything in life, there is always a learning curve, and sometimes we get all frustrated when things are not getting right the first time.. has that happened to you?? probably so..

Anyway, I decided to step away and breath and try to learn more about this new platform and today with the Stamping Around the World designer team’ blog hop, I made up my mind to just jump at it and get into it.. This was the perfect excuse I needed to forget about all my frustrations and just get to it.. After all, I just upgraded to this platform right? I now need to use it!! and how am I going to get better if I don’t even give it a try? really, I always tell this to my toddler “Just try it”, and here I was doing exactly the opposite!! anyway.. here I am, teaching by example to my little ones…  😉 so here we go!!

Stamping Around the World Blog Hop!

If you are new to the Stamping Around the World Designer team, let me share with you a little bit!,  We are a team of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators around the globe who design tutorials to make a bundle that we offer as an incentive when you purchase with us, so if you are in the US and purchase with me $50 worth of products at my Stampin’ Up Store, you get the Tutorial bundle for FREE!!! that is 12 tutorials for FREE!!!  If you are a demonstrator and want to get the tutorial bundle you can also purchase it with me for $20.. you can see a sneak peek below of this month’s Tutorial! 🙂

With this being said, every month this team hops together to show you additional projects using the same stamp set that we used on our tutorial!, so in my case I will share with you the Dinoroar Suite!!!

Meet the Dinoroar Suite!

Learn how to make Three cute cards using the Dinoroar suite from Stampin' Up!

Are these little dinosaurs the cutest or what??? I really think so!, the minute I saw them on the new catalog I knew I wanted to get them for my little Oliver!, these are perfect for toddlers, don’t you think?

The colors were selected by going with the colors contained in the designer series paper (DSP); this one is one of the best tips for card making. Actually this is one of the reasons why I love Stampin’ Up! so much, you can literary get anything to coordinate pretty well when it comes to their products as everything is color coordinated, meaning if you see in the DSP that Old Olive is included, then you can get ink, cardstock and other embellishments on this same color! making it super easy to create cards as everything coordinates perfectly!! no more guessing if this green is the same shade of green as the one I have at home? right?? I know!! That is pretty cool!!!

Anyhow here is a close up of all the cards made, I am sure you will love recreating them, and I have also added the video where you can see step by step how to make them all!!! 🙂

Facebook live 4-27-18 Magical day

Hello Friends!! Here are the cards we made on the facebook live event from 4/27. For this week I decided to use the same stamp set but change the background, to show you different ways to embellish the backgrounds and have different looks on your cards..

By the way the stamp set and coordinating thinlits are retiring at the end of May, so if you like this set, make sure you grab it before its gone!!

The first card is using watercolor paper!! and this one is colored with the ink pads and the aqua painters!! it is a little bit time consuming but if you use the heat tool you can accelerate the process a bit..

Check out the video tutorial with some AMAZING tips and tricks for making different backgrounds on your cards using Stampin Up's Magical Day stamp set! And this one uses the stampin’ blends to color the background!! I think this was my favorite card and it just looks perfect for the theme with the unicorn!!

This cute unicorn comes from the magical day stamp set!! is that not gorgeous!!! It is perfect for little girls if you ask me!!

All of the unicorns were colored the same, I used memento ink, and then colored them with the stampin blends, I used the lighter shades for the hair, and then used the smoky slate for the shadows on the body and the pink pirouette for the cheeks, this always add a little personality to the critters, then of course I used the wink of stella over the hair!! I just love the shimmery look it leaves on the hair!!

The clouds from all cards are from the Up & Away thinlits!! these coordinated perfectly!! love the look, specially cause all clouds were cut from the glimmer paper from myths and magic!! this is really stunning in person!
