Father’s Day Card with Shark Frenzy Bundle

blog hop banner

Are you needing a Father’s Day Card for this year?  Cause I know that was me!!! And today I am sharing the card that my hubby will get this year!

When I saw that the theme for this blog hop was going to be Splish & Splash and all things water, I knew I wanted to use the Shark Frenzy bundle. Mainly because I have two little kids who sing the Shark song ALL DAY LONG!

When kids likes songs, they really do!! LOL

Here is my family…. My hubby is holding Addy and Oli is just being Oli! I love his personality, he is so fun and happy!  My Addy is also very silly and laughs at everything and anything, however when it is time for pictures, you can’t have a smile from her!

Funny story, is that right after taking the picture this day, she was just all laughs!! But we are not surprised, as she has been that way all her life..  So serious when she doesn’t know people and then super silly when it is just us.. I think she is like me in that sense and is just introvert.. Where my Oli is more outgoing and extrovert.

I love to see how different they are!

Father’s Day Card

As I was mentioning above I wanted to use the shark frenzy bundle from Stampin’ Up! for my Father’s Day Card! So here is my card!

Learn how to make a cute Father's Day Card using the Shark Frenzy Bundle from Stampin' Up! This card is great if you have little kids!

I love how it turned out and it truly was super easy! I only used the bundle as the die set really has great accessories to embellish your card. But I will go into more details later on.

Color Combination

As far as color combo, I decided to focus on the Sea and thought the below color combination would go well with my card.  Therefore I picked shades of blues for the sea, as well as Sahara sand for the bottom of the sea.

So this time I was inspired more in the concept than in the paper on hand.  Then I just picked paper in the colors I wanted to use an go from there.

The designer series paper (DSP) I am using here is actually retired, but we still have DSP in this color, just different patterns that the one I am sharing! I know it would also look really great..

Shark Frenzy Bundle

As mentioned above, for this card I wanted to feature the Shark Frenzy Bundle, and while my card is for a Father’s Day, you can really use this set for lots of others occasions.

Look at the images below, you will see that the stamp set and die set give you lots of alternatives.  Stampin’ Up! shared these projects in the catalog and as you can see from the pictures you can customize the sharks to your liking.

You can make cards for grandparents or kids or moms or babies! Seriously you can do all the different characters from the song  by adding mustaches, eye lashes, glasses, ties & bow ties, hair bows, hats, purses, necklaces, etc. You name it, the options are limitless!

Not to mention you can color the sharks in different colors as well to add to the personality!

So make sure you grab this awesome bundle (item: 156213) as is soon retiring! 😉

Card Details

Learn how to make a cute Father's Day Card using the Shark Frenzy Bundle from Stampin' Up! This card is great if you have little kids!

As far as my card, I decided to just add a bow tie that would look fancy for my Dad Shark.

I decided to color the shark in Balmy blue, but I stamped twice, so I could get a more rich color rather than a pastel color. I felt this added a more realistic look for shark!

Btw, I added a highlight line on white areas using the Pool Party light blend. This little detail always makes your pieces look more finished, specially when images are white.

For the Bow, I colored it with stampin blends (Poppy Parade) and then add wink of stella to make it shine! I love the shimmery look this easy step adds and it is not messy like glitter.

Learn how to make a cute Father's Day Card using the Shark Frenzy Bundle from Stampin' Up! This card is great if you have little kids!Since I pictured my shart in the bottom of the sea, I created two layers of sand with the dies to give dimension to the card. I inked the edges of these pieces using the daubers and sahara sand ink.

I stamped the sentiment in the top layer so that when I stamped the Dady shark it would follow the song lirics.

By the way, the Daddy Shark words were stamped on scraps of basic white paper and then cut out with scissors following the words. I think this looked really good to position the words in the background as if these were floating.

Because I created two layers of sand, I glued the back layer with seal and the top layer with the foam strips to add dimension to the card, (you can see that in the picture on the right). Then added the leaves on the back layer using the fine tip glue pen and glue dots.

The shark was glued with dimensionals in between the sand layers.

Finishing details

To finish off my card I added an insert for the inside of my card. I usually don’t do this all the time, however because this is a special card, I went for it!

I added two little sharks one in Pacific Point and one in Flirty Flamingo.. since this is the Father’s Day card from my kiddos I wanted one boy and one girl shark to represent my Oli & Addy in the card.  Below the picture.

And then I added a strip of DSP to the bottom to coordinate with the outside of this card.  I definitely love how this card turned out!

I hope you have enjoyed this project and give it a try at the Shark Frenzy Bundle!

So if you like this masculine card, I know you will want to make the other three cards.

Easy Masculine card to make

The Color Combination

Following the cards I had made a few weeks ago, I decided to use the same color combo for this card. But honestly, you could change the colors to so many alternatives and still have masculine cards!

Specially if you are using the same designer series paper  I am using! (Tidings Plaid DSP). This paper pack has so many color combinations that you will get lots of color ideas for your cards.

You can check the following posts where I use color combinations from the Tidings Plaid DSP.  Hope this gives you an idea of what you can make!

Other details on the Masculine Card

For my card, I used the leaves from the leaves dies as the main focal point. I cut them out using the metallic brushed cardstock, which looks amazing. And to add a bit of bling I used the gilded gems!! They really look super cute and highlight even more the leaves.

The sentiment comes from the loyal leaves stamp set, which have sentiments perfect for the men in our life!

Easy Masculine card to make

On the left you are able to see a close up look  to the beautiful leaves. One thing to note is that you can die cut and make the stiches in one pass, by lining up the dies. That one you can make the leaves in one pass thru your die cutting machine.

The circle on this card was die cut using the stitched shapes framelits. These dies are by far one of my favorite as it includes three basic shapes in four different sizes. And it add the stitches! So they look top notch every single time!

Also note that I made a banner end on the sentiment using the tailored tag punch! This punch is amazing for banner ends!

If you have been watching my video tutorials, you know I use this punch in almost every single one of my cards! That is how great this is!!

By the way, did you check that the whisper white in the background has a texture? OMG! I have been using the tasteful textile 3D Embossing folder in my projects and I just love it!!

This embossing folder goes so well for so many occasions that I think I have been using it in almost every card lately!!! If you are starting to emboss your paper, I suggest you get this folder on your collection!! you will not regret it!! it goes well with almost anything you make!!!

Ok my friend, it is all for today.. I just wanted to give you a bit of inspiration to make easy masculine cards.. If you make them, please share them with me! I love seeing all your creations!!

How to Make Masculine cards with Stamps and Die Cuts

On today’s post I want to share with you an easy way to make masculine cards with stamps and die cuts. I feel like more often than not, I need masculine cards. So when I saw the stamp set Loyal Leaves, I got super excited as I knew this would be a great set for masculine cards..

At the same time, I thought this stamp set would be gorgeous if paired with the Love of Leaves bundle. And in specific with the die set, as it has the large leaves that you can add as embellishments.

Having stand along die cuts, like these leaves, is awesome as you can make your own embellishments. Therefore these will coordinate perfectly with any of your projects! You can see below how these leaves add the perfect touch to these masculine cards.

How to make three easy Masculine cards using stamps and dies

Color Combination

For these masculine cards I wanted to use a nature’s look focusing on the wood pattern from the designer series paper, so I went with browns and the metallic brushed card stock.

Masculine Cards using stamps and die cuts

Sketches and Details

A quick tip when making these masculine cards with stamps and dies is to have the die cuts ready, I actually die cut several of them in the colors I thought would go well, so in my case this was int eh metallic brushed card stock as well as the early espresso.

This always helps to have a visual as you are putting the card together as you can be switching the leaves and see which one you like the best before gluing it onto the card.

If you have extra leaves at the end, no worries, you can save them in a baggie and used them in a future project. 😉

Masculine Card #1

Sketches to play        How to make three easy Masculine cards using stamps and dies

As usual I used sketches to come up with the card ideas. I always recommend using sketches as these really helps in coming up with card ideas. You can so many variations to a sketch, that you can have an endless list of card designs at your fingertips.

Believe me, give it a try and you will see how your creativity flows.

In fact last week we had a challenge on my FB Group and from one simple sketch we made 16 cards!! all looking great and unique!! it was such a great challenge to teach others how to kick-start their creativity!  So definitely give it a try to sketches!

For this card, I wanted to add a partial stamping to the background of the card, and then a simple sentiment.  you can see that then I just embellish the card using the leaves and then a few of the gilded gems.

Masculine Card #2

Sketches to play        How to make three easy Masculine cards using stamps and dies

On this second card I wanted to make a full stamped background. I used the largest leave from the Loyal Leaves stamp set and then stamped it with Soft Suede.

The tip here is that you need to stamp in three different tones of the same color, and the way you can achieve that is by stamping off on a separate paper and then onto the whisper white card stock, that way you get different tones of the same color. By doing this you will add depth to your background which makes it look even prettier.

You can watch the video tutorial below to see exactly how to get this look when stamping.

Masculine Card #3

Sketches to play        How to make three easy Masculine cards using stamps and dies

Finally for this masculine card I wanted to get a simpler look and so the background of the cards is a piece of designer series paper without any stamping. and on the focal point I added the leaves.

To add more interest to the card, I stamped the sentiment onto the smaller circle and then added a banner under it. And similar to the last two cards, I added three gilded gems as embellishments.

This tutorial bundle includes 82 tutorials using all the Fall stamp sets available in the mini catalog currently available! so If you like fall cards you will then love this tutorial!

Compared to my other tutorials, The Autumn Tutorial Bundle is one where all tutorials include written instructions and it comes with both measurements in metric system and imperial system, so that if you are abroad and are interested, it is easier to make these cards.

Additionally, the measurements in the metric system takes into consideration the A4 cardstock size (8.25″ x 11.75″) and the measuments in the imperial system is for US letter size cardstock (8.5″ x 11″).

How to make thinking of you masculine cards

PleaeHave you been wondering how to make thinking of you masculine cards? Especially now, during this time when we cannot go out and see our loved ones? this is why, today I am showing you how to make three cards that are perfect to send to the men in your life! So let’s get started!

How to make Thinking of you Masculine Cards

The cards I am showcasing today were made with the “A good man” stamp set from Stampin’ Up!. the images on this set are great for men, especially for dads!

Because the stamps are line images, it makes them perfect to color them, and this time I decided to watercolor them, so I can share a few tips with you about watercoloring. You can see the cards below!

how to make thinking of you masculine cards

The designer series paper a.k.a. patterned paper, I used, is that Country club from the mini catalog. This is the one that has the the golf images on one side and plaid or diamonds on the other side. Definitely this is a great patterned paper for men!

I also used some past cards as inspiration, even though these were not masculine cards. I love that I can take an old design and then adapt it with any other suite or them that I need, like in this case.

As usual I took the colors included in the designer series paper to come up with the color combo!

The color combo

All three cards have the same color combo

  • Night of Navy
  • Balmy Blue
  • Smoky Slate
  • Basic Grey
  • Whisper White

Details on these cards and Sketches

Below you will see the sketches I follow for these cards, as well as some details. Please note that after this section you will see the video tutorial where you can see how to make these cards step-by-step.

Masculine card #1

sketches to play    how to make thinking of you masculine cards

For the first card, I did not use designer series paper (DSP), but I added a 3D embossing to the grey background, which is the same that coordinates with the country club DSP. This added a really nice texture to the card and kept it very masculine. The sentiments on all cards did not come from the A good man stamp set, mainly because I wanted them to be “thinking of you” cards. This sentiment came from the Beautiful moments stamp set, which is another great set that you can use for watercoloring!.

Speaking of watercolor, for this image I use smoky slate for the dad’s pants, Balmy Blue for the girl’s pants, Night of Navy for the dad’s shirt, Soft Suede for the Hair, Petal Pink for the skin, and Pool Party for the sky.  TIP – Remember that for watercolor you need to use Watercolor paper and Stazon to stamp the images.

I show step by step how to watercolor on the video tutorial below! you will see it is super easy and I know you will want to give it a try!! And if you want to learn more about watercoloring please see this post where I show you how to watercolor the girl on the Beautiful moments stamp set!

Masculine card #2

sketches to play   how to make thinking of you masculine cards

For the second card, I colored the image exactly the same, I just changed the layout of the card. On the video you will see the card that inspired this card.  I also stamped the sentiment directly on the card base. TIP – I recommend you use the stamparatus to do so, as the colored cardstock is not very smooth and sometimes you don’t get a crisp image, therefore using the stamparatus will help you to re-stamp if needed.

The sentiment on this card is from the Strong and Beautiful stamp set, this is geared for women, however you can see how the sentiments on this set can well be used for men.

Masculine card #3

sketches to play   how to make thinking of you masculine cards

For this final card I used a different image, this time the one with the little boy. I colored it following the same colors as the previous, but I colored the boy’s pants  with Smoky Slate, and his shirt with Balmy Blue.

The layout is super simple, and same as with the last one you can see in the video the card that I used as inspiration.

The sentiment on this card came from two sets, the Rooted in Nature and the Beautiful Moments!

How to make Three (encouragement) masculine handmade cards

Have you ever needed a masculine handmade card perfect to encourage that special person? You want to send him a note to let him know that you care and you are there for him, but don’t have the perfect card. Well my friend, you are in the right place, as today I will show you how to make Three Masculine Handmade Cards perfect for encouragement or Get well for the men in your life!

I particularly struggle with masculine cards as most of the time I love using bright colors and flowers, so I tend not to have them on hand.  Therefore most of the times I need a masculine handmade card, I have to make it for that occasion. So this post and the following 2 or three will help you see how you can make masculine handmade cards for encouragement and get well. 😉

Three masculine handmade cards for encouragement or get well

When I started thinking on masculine cards, I looked at my stamps and designer series paper to see what could go well together, and I thought the Back on your feet stamp set from Stampin’ Up! would go perfectly for men, granted you can also use this stamp for your gals 😁 You can see below the cards.

how to make masculine cards for encouragement and get well

I paired the Back on your feet stamp set with the Country Club designer series paper a.k.a DSP, this paper pack has one side all about golfing, and the other side has designs that can go well for any occasion, there are patters full of color and other that are more neutral, but all go well for masculine handmade cards, so you can understand why I decided to use them together.

All these cards were colored using the stampin’ blends which are alcohol markers, but you could also use watercoloring to color these images. Just remember if you are going to use alcohol markers it is important to use the memento ink pad and if you are watercoloring, then you need to use Stazon.  Below you will see the video tutorial where I will show you how to color with the alcohol markers. If you are interested in learning more about how to watercolor in an easy way you can see this post.

The color combo for these cards

As usual I picked the colors for my cards from the designer series paper. I honestly think this is the easiest way to pick color combinations, if you are ever having trouble with this, just pick a patterned paper that you like and then see which colors you like and then used them in your card.

This is where Stampin’ Up! makes it super easy, as all their products color coordinate, so if you see a color in the DSP that you like, you know you can get the cardstock, the ink pad and the embellishments in the same colors. This is what I love the most, as this makes the designing process even easier.  You can see another example of how to use your designer series paper for making cars, on that post the cards are about Thinking of you.

For this cards the color combo is the following:

  • Night of Navy
  • Garden Green
  • Poppy Parade
  • Crushed Curry
  • Basic Black
  • Whisper White

Masculine handmade card #1

how to make masculine cards for encouragement and get well

This card is very simple in the lay out. most of the card front is covered with the designer series paper.

I stamped the giraffe and colored it with the Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede alcohol markers.  Then matted this piece with Crushed Curry and Garden Green.

I added the sentiment in a 1 1/2″ circle from Poppy Parade which matched the Ribbon that I added to the card. (see what I mean with the color combination??😉)

Masculine Handmade Card #2

how to make masculine cards for encouragement and get well

For this second card, I used again a very simple layout using the So Sentimental Dies.

The turtle was colored using Granny Apple Green, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow, Soft Sea Foam alcohol markers, and Flirty Flamingo for the cheeks. I love adding cheeks to the critters, these always make them look even cuter!  After coloring then I punched the image using 2 1/4″ circle.

The sentiment was embossed with White embossing powder.  Embossing on dark colors cardstock always make the  sentiment pop op even more!

Masculine Handmade Card #3

how to make masculine cards for encouragement and get wellFor the last card,  I used again the So Sentimental dies. These are becoming my new favorite dies, I have been using them A LOT lately!!  You can see Three Birthday cards using these dies as well on this post.

I colored the the Sloth with Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Mossy Meadow and Smoky Slate. For the banner under this image, I used the tailored tag punch to cut the ends of the Garden Green Strip. This punch makes it so easy to make perfect banners every time.

The sentiment on this card is embossed as well and then die cut using the So sentimental dies.

Video tutorial with step-by-step instructions

As usual you can watch the video on this section to learn how to make these cards. Please note that this video is for all three cards, and therefore it is a longer video. I show you how to color each of these critters using alcohol markers as well as how to put these handmade cards together. So I would recommend you watch this video when you are winding down from a crazy day and enjoy this video as you would a TV show 😉
