Birthday Handmade Cards to Make
As I was mentioning above, I wanna share with you three easy Birthday Handmade Card ideas that you can make in no time. All of these are featuring the So Much Happy bundle from Stampin’ Up! which not only has a great stamp set, but it also has a fun die set with borders that will help you make awesome cards when you paired them together!
When I saw this bundle in the catalog I got very excited with it as it has a cloud border die that you can use with so many stamps, like the Hippo Happiness Bundle for example. Also this bundle has images for balloons and stars and it has a die for a mini banner string as well as the “happy” die that can be use for so many occasions!
Therefore for the cards that I am showcasing today, I want to make sure you see what I was seeing with the cloud edge border as well as the happy die and the banner string! I had so much fun designing these cards and I know you will love making them. So lets get into the details of these cards!!
The Color Combination
For these cards I wanted to have a very cheerful feeling, so I decided to use mainly colors from the bright family.. below you can see the palette of colors that I picked
I also incorporated Basic Black to make these colors pop up even more!
The Sketches and Other Details
Birthday Card # 1
For this first card, I wanted to use the cloud edge die to make a sky background. However, I wanted to just have a partial background, so i added sticky notes to limit the borders where the sky would go. I then created a template with the die set and use it as a stencil to create the sponged background. I have included the video tutorial on this post so you can watch how this background was made step by step.
The letters were also die cut out of the rainbow glitter paper, and the brand new foam adhesive sheets!! Oh My!! I was so pleased with how well these are cut with the dies. I did run it twice just to make sure these were cut perfectly.
Make sure you watch the video tutorial below if you want to see how this card was put together.
Birthday Card # 2
This second cards is very simple. I cut out the letters on water color paper to be able to watercolor them. I could have also die cut them in regular Whisper White and then color them using the blends. In fact this is what I did for the little banners.
Doing these things helped me to have several colors in the die cuts, following the colors from the rainbow glimmer paper.
Birhtday Card # 3
And for this final card I wanted to get a cloudy background, which I used the same technique from the first cards. However, this time it was for the full background.
I then added a die cut with Vellum and Whisper White of the clouds edge die. And though you might not see it in the card, It really looks really well in person. Adding both of these layers added a great dimension to the card.
