Would you want to make a set of cute Friendship Cards with the Kangaroo & Company set? If so you are in for a treat! As today I will be sharing with you three cute Friendship cards that you can send to your friends.
But first let me share with you that today I am participating in a blog hop where my fellow demonstrators and I will be sharing some card ideas to inspire you. So please visit all blogs participating today, as you will get lots of great ideas and inspiration for your next crafting time.
Without ado, let’s get started!
Cute Friendship Cards with Kangaroo & Company
The Kangaroo & Company set has a cute momma Kangaroo image that when you die cut it using its coordinating die set, you get a pouch where you can add some other accessories. You can customize this cute little momma Kangaroo with a baby kangaroo, flowers, gifts or like in my case with an envelope.
I decided to use the envelope image on my cards, because I wanted to make “just because” cards for my friends. That way they are ready to go the next time I want to send a note to one of my friends. Below the picture…
What do you think?
I really think they turned out super cute! don’t you agree?
One of the things I loved about this set is that you can use the images for multiple techniques. In the cards today I use a very simple technique.
I stamped the image in color cardstock (Cinnamon Cider) and then added highlights with the alcohol markers a.k.a. Stampin’ Blends. This added a nice look to the Kangaroo, but it was not a lot of work.
Give it a try! I know you see how easy this was.. below you can find the video tutorial where I go step by step on how to color it with the alcohol markers, so make sure you watch it.
You can use this technique anytime you want to make several cards of the same design. Specially because this does not take too much time, plus it does not get overwhelming.
The Color Combination
As far as the color combination, I used the Snail Mail Designer Paper as my inspiration for the color combo.
I thought of this paper pack, mainly because I knew I wanted to put the envelope in the Kangaroo’s Pouch, and that trigger me to use this paper.
Plus I really wanted to use the little heart embellishments that comes in the Snail Mail Suite.
Card Sketches & Other Details
As usual, I love using sketches and here you will see the sketches I used for each of these cards.
If you ever struggle with coming up with card ideas, then make sure you give it a try to sketches! I know the will hep you get creative in a snap!
As for the coloring of the focal point on all of these cards, I used a very simple technique for the Kangaroo.
You can see in this close up from of the Kangaroo more details of the coloring.
For instance it is soft, but you can see that I added cheeks on the kangaroo, and then added a darker color for the nose, compared to the highlights in its body.
Like I said, this is a very simple technique but the finished product always makes it look really nice.
Also you will notice in this close us that you can play with the designer series paper patterns, as you can mix and match how you position them..
And you can also play hearts, in this close up, you can see that I colored the line heart image by adding lines in different directions, and added the resin hearts on one side.
However on the cards from this post, I used a solid heart stamp image and added the resin heart on the same section. This was made by design, since the patterned on the background had the little hearts and these would get lost in the card.
So always play with the elements of your cards and change positions depending of what you have! 😉
Below you will see the three cards and the video tutorial to make each of them.
