So let’s get started, Shall we?
Easy Fall Card for a Friend
As I was mentioning above, my card today is around making card for our friends and family specially during this season of gratitude.. As thanksgiving approaches us, I think its important to take a few minutes to reflect about what we are thankful for.. and even more important this year that has been a roller coaster of emotions!
This year has been totally crazy and so I really think that it would mean a lot to send our cards to our loved ones to let them know how grateful we are for them.
So without further ado, here is my card!
Fall Card Details
When I think of Gratitude, I immediately think of Thanksgiving and Fall, and this always leads to leaves!! are you the same?
And because of this, I knew I wanted to use the Stitched leaves dies!! these are an amazing set that help you create die cuts that can be used as embellishments, and that was the case for this card!
I honestly think that this die set makes card making super easy as I can cut out leaves in so many colors and then just play with them to create cards.. you can see other examples of cards made with these leaves on the following posts.
For this card I used the Plaid Tidings designer series paper (DSP) a.k.a. patterned paper, mainly because it has so many color combinations. This paper pack can help you make cards for lots of occasions, so I just went thru the pack and selected the sheet I wanted to use.
The Color Combination
Once I have selected the sheet of the paper pack that I want to use, then I pick the colors form there for my color combination. This is always the best way for me to pick colors, so if you ever struggle with this, then give it a try!!
You will see how this gets easier the more cards you make!!
Below you can see the color combination from the sheet of paper I selected!
Fun Fold Instructions
You can see on the picture in the left how this card opens, so let me explain the construction of this card.. you will see how easy this is!!
You start with a card base that is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and score at 1 1/2″ and at 4 1/4″ on the long side
Fold on the 4 1/4″ mark so you will have a regular card, and then fold on the 1 1/2″ mark toward you (opposite to the first fold).
Then cut your designer series paper at 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ and glue the the DSP to that second fold! (see the first picture in this post to see this.
Then add a strip of copper foil that is 1/2″ x 5″ under the fold of cardstock
And then add the ribbon of your choice around the card, in my case I used the Braided Linen Thread and finally embellish the front of the card. For my card I stamped the sentiment on to a die cut from the Celebration labels dies and then added the three leaves that I cut with the Stitched Leaves dies.
Embellishing the card
Here you can see the details on the label and the leaves I added to the card.
I cut out the larger of the leaves in Cajun Craze, the medium leave in Crushed Curry and the small leave in Pretty Peacock.
The sentiment is from the Beautiful Autumn stamp set, which I stamped in Early Espresso onto the Whisper White die cut from the Celebrations labels dies. I used the second from the smallest to the largest of this die set.
And to finish off my card I added Wink of Stella on the leaves to have that glittery look and added randomly four Gilded gems.
Like I said this card is easy to make and I think you can recreate this one with lots of designer series paper, I am sure you have a collection of paper in your craft room ready to be used!
