Have you seen the brand NEW 2021-2023 In Color Family from Stampin’ Up? If not then make sure you hop with us along this blog hop as we share with you ideas and inspiration using these new colors.
All participating blogs will be showcasing projects using the colors from the 2021-2023 In Color family. These projects could use only one color, or multiple colors from the new color family or even combined with other color families. So I know you will get lots of color combinations, not to mention ideas for your next crafting project!
I am sure you will love them all! So let’s get started!
What is the In Color Family
Let’s start with a brief explanation of what these colors are and how these come into our crafting world.
Every year Stampin’ Up! releases 5 new colors that will remain active for 2 years. Typically these colors are trending and these are added to compliment our regular color families.
After the 2 year period, these colors are retired. So every year, with the release of a New Annual Catalog, we have an In Color family retiring with a new one being released!
You can imagine this is always a bitter sweet moment, as we say good bye to some of our favorite colors, but at the same time it is exciting as we get to see brand new colors.
For me personally, I was super sad to see Purple Posy go from the 2019-2021 In Color Family..
As you know I love purples! and having this shade of purple was amazing, as it was soft, light and it coordinated really well with the Highland Heather as well as the Gorgeous Grape. Not to mention it went really nice with Soft Sea Foam and other colors as well!
However, as you will see from the chart of the new In Color family, there is again a Purple shade!
And I am super excited to be honest, as Purple is not a color that tends to go into the In Color family that frequently.. Shocking right? I mean purple is the BEST color ever!! LOL .. A new shade of Purple should be included in every new In Color family that gets released. Right? 🤣🤣🤣
Believe me, I have made my suggestions to Stampin’ Up! over the years and I guess this time they heard me LOL.. 😁
So without further ado, meet the NEW 2021-2023 In Color Family!! You can see the chart below with all the new colors!
Introducing the 202-2023 In Color Family
Don’t you agree, that this year Stampin’ Up! did amazing? Seriously!
All colors are just perfect and I can see how well these will coordinate with our other families. Don’t you think?
The Polished Pink is a great shade of Pink, lighter than the Melon Mambo and goes really well with black and White! I’ve made several cards using this color combo and Oh my! it is just gorgeous! See these Birthday Cards here if you don’t believe me!
The Fresh Freesia is just beautiful! This shade of Purple goes well with the Blackberry Bliss as well as the Gorgeous Grape and the Highland Heather.
Our new Pale Papaya, has grown on me already. It is like a light orange that will go really well with our subtle color family. I have made so many cards with this color, that I cannot even believe it! As I am not a orange type of gal. ha!
And both of the new shades of green – Soft Succulent and the Evening Evergreen are just amazing!! We truly don’t have similar shades of green in our existing color families! So I know these will come really perfect!
Green is one of the colors that goes so well with lots of colors, as you can use them for greenery, foliage and the like and so you can add any flower in any color making it look so good.. So I am super excited to have two more shaded of green.
And I think the Evening Evergreen will be super handy for when we start making Christmas cards… This would be an awesome shade for the hollies, or pine trees. Mark my words, my friend! 😉
Color Coordination
One of the things that make Stampin’ Up! so especial is the fact that they color coordinate all their products! And this makes card making so much easier. Mainly, because you will not be wasting time trying to figure out it something works well with the project you have in mind.
For instance, you can just pick a color combo and then pull out all the supplies in those colors. Cardstock, ribbon, gems, designer series paper, ink, markers, etc. And then it is just matter of you playing with these items and make your cards.. Rather than seeing if that green ribbon goes with the green pattern paper that you have at home.. Only to find out that they didn’t when you put them together..
So below you can see exacltly, what I mean…
You can see how well the cardstock, the ribbon, the ink and the markers are all color coordinated. So when it is time to work in a paper crafting project, I know everything will color coordinate beautifully.
And you will see this on my card today!
Meet the Soft Succulent!
Because I wanted you to see how well the products color coordinate, I decided to go with only one of the In Colors for my card and just mix it with the basic white. So my card is “Semi-Monochromatic”, ha!
The card base is in Soft Succulent, but to add a bit of interest, I added two layers. This was because I wanted to use texture to my card, so I dry embossed a piece of Soft Succulent, using the new Bark embossing folder. And then matted this piece with Basic White, but this mat was only 1/8″ larger to only see a teeny tiny border. It made this layer pop up even more.. Don’t you think?
The gingham pattern, came from the Pansy Petals designer series paper (DSP). This paper pack actually features all the new colors in the In Color Family, so you might want to check it out! (below in the supply list you can see it)
The scallop rectangle is coming from the die set from the Color & Contour bundle. This is a must have my friend. Not only the die set is perfect for decorative labels, but the stamp set is just perfect and easy to use with multiple coloring techniques. Not to mention that sentiments in this set are amazing. You can see a card sample using this bundle here, which by the way features the Pale Papaya from the new 2021-2023 In Color Family.
I used the Simply Succulent Bundle, as I knew it would go perfect with the color I wanted to showcased. I embossed the succulent image with white embossing powder on Soft Succulent cardstock. And to finish off this piece I used the Soft Succulent stampin’ blend to add some highlights to the leaves.
The sentiment came from the same stamp set and I die cutting using the die set from the bundle. And as you can see I used the Soft Succulent ink pad to stamp this image.
And to finish off this card, I added the bow in the Soft Succulent Open Weave Ribbon!
I am telling you, everything coordinated perfectly! And this is why I love using Stampin’ Up! Products!
